Come join us for our next performance on Sat. 6/13 at Joslyn Art Museum (Omaha), from 11-11:30am! Celebrating the 50th Anniversary between Omaha and Shizuoka, Japan! We'll be making a guest appearance at Joslyn Art Museum, presented by the Omaha Sister Cities Association Shizuoka Council and UNO International Students. KickstART will run from 10am to noon, and will showcase Japanese culture and dance, with Kokyo Taiko's performance from 11-11:30am. The event is free and open to the public! While there, please also take the time to view Joslyn's temporary Allen Say exhibit. Renowned author and illustrator of more that twenty books - including Grandfather's Journey (1993), which won the Caldecott Medal in 1994 - Allen Say, born in Yokohama, Japan, has spent much of his career exploring the rich divide between his Japanese youth and his American coming of age. It is his ability to convey sentiments of alienation and dislocation, in ways that speak directly to children, that makes his books so remarkable. The exhibition explores both the technical mastery and thematic complexity of this prolific artist and author. Joslyn Art Museum is located at: 2200 Dodge Street, Omaha We hope to see you there! |
